Implant Retained Dentures: A NEW SMILE IN ONE DAY
A patient that is missing an entire row of teeth has an opportunity to start fresh with a full-arch restoration! There are other options for treating a full row of missing teeth, such as single implants and dentures, but an innovative and effective solution that is more affordable and convenient is preferable to most patients these days.
A Revolutionary Solution to Missing Teeth
The demand for immediate replacement teeth has led to a revolution in how we deal with missing teeth: implant retained dentures. This innovative treatment allows Dr. Abbott, Dr. Hopper and Dr. Tompkins to combine implant technology with dentures to give our patients a new smile and a renewed outlook on life, all in one day!
Dentures and Implants: Working in Tandem
Traditional dentures can be inconvenient, uncomfortable and precarious. And while dental implants are an excellent choice for single tooth replacements, when needing a full arch, they can get expensive and complicated. However, the combination of these two treatments yields a solution that works for nearly everyone. During this treatment, four dental implants are placed in the jaw by your oral surgeon. Once that phase of the implant placement is complete, we provide you with a full dental bridge that is attached to the implants.
It may be possible to eliminate the need for covering the roof of your mouth with a complete denture, depending upon the number of implants to be placed. This alternative denture will feel more natural, allow you to fully taste your food, and give you a better sense of its temperature. The denture will be removable, which makes cleaning the support bar and denture much easier.
The Benefits of Implant Retained Dentures
- Cost: Since this treatment requires just four implants per arch, it is much more affordable than an entire row.
- Bone Graft-Free: Two of the four implants are placed at special angles in the back of the jaw to make the best use of available jawbone. This often eliminates the need for bone grafting.
- Healing: This treatment requires less time in the chair and less time healing than that of traditional implant procedures.
Full Arch Replacement Procedure
As with other dental implant procedures, you will be appropriately anesthetized for comfort during the surgery and thus won’t feel a thing. Post-operation soreness is typically manageable with over-the-counter medications, and any necessary prescriptions will be discussed at your consultation.
